History

Our Church History.

Church of the Living Word was born out of Bible Study in October 1978, in the home of our founding Pastors, S.K. "Bud" & Nita Biffle. The first service was held on May 27th, 1979 in Lowe's Westerville Theater with 24 people present. Over the next 3 years, services were held in various locations in Westerville and north Columbus.

On March 1, 1981, we moved to our current location at the corner of Westerville & Ferris Roads, leasing the building with an option to purchase. The option to purchase was eventually exercised, and 55 feet was added to the building plus a church style roof.

Pastor Steve & Nancy Biffle joined the ministry as Associate Pastors in 1983. In May of 1999, Pastor Bud Biffle resigned to accept the position of CFO of The Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches & Ministers International, in Dallas Texas. Pastor Steve Biffle then assumed the position of Senior Pastor.

CLW has had a great vision of helping other churches and ministries to begin and others to continue. There have been 6 churches that have been started from the facilities of CLW, and 3 others that have used the buildings as transition facitilites. This is a partnership in the work of God's Kingdom. There have also been other ministries that have come to CLW for help and assistance in their ability to continue to function, and have been welcomed with open arms.

Church of the Living Word also reaches out into the community. The Food Pantry ministry reaches hundreds of people every month - those that struggle to have food on their table! This is staffed by volunteers of the church and supported by the church body.

The Church was established on this premise: "A FELLOWSHIP BASED UPON THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, GOD'S WORD AND LOVE". You'll find solid Biblical ministry of the Word, a moving of the Holy Spirit in the services and people's lives, and a body of believers that will show God's Love to every indiividual that comes through the doors.

Church of the Living Word is affiliated with the Full Gospel Fellowship of Churches and Ministers International, a Fellowship of independent Full Gospel Churches & Ministries. Pastor Steve Biffle currently serves as the Corporate Treasurer of "The Fellowship", and has previously served as The National Youth Director and Corporate Secretary.
